The structure is an air-frame unit with an area of 80 m², manufactured and installed for an exhibition in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Its compact dimensions and rapid assembly made it an optimal solution for short-term events.
The space was used as an exhibition pavilion — a temporary structure for hosting an event, designed for rapid assembly and dismantling.
Prior to the project's implementation, the following key requirements were identified:
Fabricate and install the structure within the tight timeframes typical of exhibitions.
Ensure installation can be carried out by a minimal number of people.
Avoid damaging the site surface—specifically, the asphalt paving.
Allow for convenient transport using small vehicles.
Create an aesthetic appearance that aligns with the exhibition format.
Manufacturing the structure took one week, while the actual on-site installation took just four hours.
A team of only four people was required to install the structure at the exhibition; thanks to the frame's simple and well-engineered design, assembly was quick and did not require specialized machinery.
When dismantled, the structure occupies approximately 6–7 m³ (excluding ballast)—a volume small enough to be transported by a light truck. The same vehicle was also used to deliver the sand that served as ballast.
Since the structure was installed on an asphalt surface where anchor mounting was not feasible, a ballasted mounting system was used; the structure was held in place by the weight of the ballast (sand) without damaging the surface.
The asphalt surface of the site remained completely intact; the ballasted mounting system allows for installation without drilling or otherwise disturbing the underlying surface.
Artificial turf was laid down on the asphalt before installing the structure; this not only concealed the hard surface but also gave the site a neat, attractive appearance — an especially suitable choice for exhibitions and events.
